A razor’s edge

A razor’s edge

Walking with God has far more to it than you think, it’s like living on a razor’s edge.

There’s no room for self here, you have to leave the past behind and be willing to adventure out to the razor’s edge, beyond your own comfort zone and follow a place yet to be learnt.

It is a delicate balance of your heart and Holy Spirit by which you relinquish all control and follow the spirits lead. “This can’t be done,” you say. “It’s too difficult” But it can and you must, you just have to want it bad enough to sacrifice all you have. Flying blind is not a desirable way to live but, because you don’t know what to do, this is what it takes to be lead by the Spirit of truth.

Only the Holy Spirit can show us how to do this

Jesus didn’t mix words in the deal to be struck if you want to be His disciple. In Matthew 10 He clearly states the rules of engagement towards the world around you. What we find important is not what God sees as important, there is far more to this delicate balance than the Bible by itself reveals. This is why we need the Holy Spirit to show us how to do it.

We think we know what we’re doing but living on the surface only creates the illusion of success. There are matters of the heart far too deep within you for the carnal mind to understand, things that God alone must change for a relationship to take hold. It’s not based on what you see or know of the world, everything you have built keeps you from Him. What you hold onto controls you so letting your life go is the only way He will accept you.

Either you make it happen or He will

From experience, I can tell you this daunting decision does not come easy. You will stand there for some time looking over this edge wondering if you would or could step off. But this is the deal – either you step off or He’ll push you off. You make it happen or He will and this is a harsh road to walk. God has no regard for the world and its titles, He will burn all your bridges and destroy all your possessions simply because they were in the way.

If He has called you out – if you know He has something for you then be ready to drop everything to pursue the answers. They don’t come easy, you’ll have to dig to find them but I assure you they will astound you once you see what He wants. You will go down before you start to understand so don’t think the devil has you, all you need to do is get on your knees and build that relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is your interpreter, your guide and your life line to Jesus and the Father.

It will take some time to get this right, but that’s ok, He knows that and much more so dare to step off and walk the razor’s edge and be a disciple.

Thanks for listening
